ALL SAINTS´DAY IN POLAND

In Poland we do not celebrate Halloween, but All Saints’ Day on the 1 st of November and All Souls’ Day on 2nd of November. These are days when almost everyone visits graves of their family members or relatives. The gravestones are decorated with colourful chrysanthemums in full bloom and millions of grave candels, which symbololize the presence of God and reminds of the prayer that has been said in a moment of reflexion for those who passed before us. This Christian celebration of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day roots in a belief that there is a powerful spiritual bond between those in heaven and the living.

At the end of October people in Poland tidy cementaries to prepare them for All Saints’ Day.
Polish also take care of war cementaries where there are graves of the solders killed during first and second world wars.

Children from Erasmus + Club visit such war cementaries to do some cleaning like: depredate leaves, decorate them and light votive candle. We have made some pictures from our activities from the end of October when we have visited one of the war’s cementary in Biecz.
